Applied Archaeology Australia provides professional services in archaeological heritage surveys, excavations, mapping, conservation, and interpretation. The focus is on the use of archaeology as the main driver in the conservation and management of natural and cultural places. Working with a number of community groups and partners, projects are developed and implemented under a model of Customary guidance and landscape archaeology, ensuring Traditional Owners are in control of all facets of the project work, and with direct outcomes for heritage area protection on the ground. Areas of investigations are integrated with wider conservation and land management plans. The integration of commercial, research, and community archaeology provides a platform for educational outcomes, with practical workshops, intensive work experience programmes, and field schools, regularly offered.
