Two bark slabs recorded from a rock art shelter in Gariwerd (Grampians National Park), western Victoria, correspond to implements described in the ethnographic record for use in the curing of possum skins. Two other rock art shelters contained wooden pieces cut with steel blades. These artefacts support the excavated evidence that the use of some shelters in Gariwerd continued into the contact period, and also suggests that some shelters were used for nonceremonial activities.
